modern Maglio facility

Maglio Facility.
Home of the Big Tomato.

The Maglio & Company facility is 123,000 square feet of food safe environment, including a 21,000 square foot high bay and refrigerated storage building. There are twenty-one fully equipped dock doors, nine of which provide access to the refrigerated dock space. When the trucks arrive, we process the produce immediately!

The temperature on the dock is maintained at a constant 55 degrees. All commodities are offloaded onto the dock for inspection and receiving prior to storage or ripening. Three high bay (28-foot clear) storage coolers separated by insulated walls and high speed roll-up doors are next to the docks. They are maintained at 45°, 35° and 35° respectively. There is a fourth storage area open to the dock and maintained at 55 degrees.

All produce is off-loaded into the specific area that is best for maintaining the highest quality. The refrigerated building is separated from the balance of the facility by two high-speed roll-up doors.

Maglio & Company is pioneering the use of low-level ozone to sanitize all produce storage facilities. Ozone is more potent than chlorine and kills free pathogens on both the surface of the product and in the circulating cooling air of the storage room.

The temperature and humidity of each cooler and ripening room is kept at an optimum level by our computerized monitoring system 24 hours a day.

The building is equipped with seven tomato ripening rooms and two holding tomato rooms. Over 20 truckloads of tomatoes can be stored under controlled environmental conditions. Six skylights provide a bright, open environment in which to repack.

We operate seven repack lines, spaced with ample room for handling and sanitation.
